Child empowerment

Empowering children to advocate for child-centered justice

In our child-centered approach, children are more than beneficiaries: they are agents of change. We created Child Advisory Boards (CABs) in each country, involving 50 children and young people with experience in the youth justice system. We train them on their rights in criminal proceedings, consult them on project activities and materials, empowering them to become advocates for a child-centered justice by developing their own awareness-raising campaigns.

By using our participatory YouCreate methodology, we guide children and young people to develop their own creative projects to raise awareness about child justice and children’s rights in criminal proceedings. The resulting materials will be shared through social media, partners’ networks and our child protection online platform ChildHub.

Child Advisory boards have been established in Greece, Romania, Serbia, Bulgaria and The Netherlands. They are composed of approximately 10-15 children and they usually meet once a month in each country.
